MSAD 55 Special Education and Section 504 Child Find Notice
Do you know of a child 3-20 years of age with a disability residing within the MSAD 55 district? The district is comprised of the towns Baldwin, Cornish, Hiram, Parsonsfield and Porter.
We have a duty to locate, evaluate and identify any child residing in the district who qualifies for Special Education services or any child attending the public schools who may require Section 504 accommodations or services.
Children eligible for special education include those with disabilities who have hearing impairment, visual impairment, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, specific learning disability, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, emotional disturbance, autism or developmental delay and who, because of the such an impairment, need special education services.
Children eligible for Section 504 accommodations or services include those children who have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity.
Children with disabilities are entitled to appropriate educational services provided at no cost to the child or family. If you know of a child with a disability in need of special education services, please call your local school Principal or Special Education Director, Jana Murphy.
