Grant Writing

There are three necessary components to every grant writing project even though the three steps are far from linear.

-A grant writer must see a probable solution to an identifiable problem.

-A well thought out proposal must be written detailing the severity of the problem, why the proposed solution will work, what action steps must be taken, what resources will be necessary and lastly how the success of the proposed project will be measured and documented.

-A probable funding source must be researched and chosen.

You must take the time to talk with your colleagues and identify the problem you wish to tackle, come up with a plan you feel will have significant impact on this problem, then you can start the grant writing process. The last two steps will often overlap as you will be working on the proposal as you are hunting for possible funding sources. Two sets of links are offered below, one for the "how to", and a second for "sources". Remember this is only an introduction to sources as we have gleaned just a few from those we found.
