First graders are reading several farm books. I enjoyed hearing them read A Hen Can. We found many new words that stumped us: know, shadows, just, chew, cud, ...
But I must say that when they read The Farmer and the Skunk, I was very pleased!
They are also working through a writing text that will teach us the rules of writing.
The kindergarten group also has a book they read to me. It is called Farm Friends. The new words were: I, see.
All eleven students read the book to me individually during DEAR time (Drop Everything And Read).
What a wonderful job they did!
Sounds that K kids have learned are: "M", "T", and "F".
Words for the week are: me, mom, I, see, to, fun.
