Get to Know Mr. Miller
I am pleased to be teaching at South Hiram School this year! After 25 years of teaching, I still find each day in the classroom an adventure. I have a particular interest in using technology in the classroom and in helping children express themselves in writing.
My interest in education goes back to my parents, both teachers, and continued with a major in psychology at Harvard College and research work with Howard Gardner at Project Zero. After teaching several years at the Beacon Hill Nursery School, I earned a Master's degree in Education at Lesley College, and headed to Maine to teach.
I have taught children from preschool to fourth grade, in multiage and single grade classes, in Boston, Portland, Scarborough, and SAD 55. This has given me a good view of where students begin to learn and where they are headed, and experience with a wide range of developmental levels and different learning styles.
I live with my family in West Baldwin, in an old farmhouse on a wooded hillside. We moved here from Portland right before our oldest child, Kate, was born. Now she is off to college in Boston! My youngest child, Maeve, is at Sacopee Valley High School.
If you have any questions about my teaching or training, or suggestions for this site, please go to the "Contact Information" page on this website to let me know your ideas. I will try to add information of interest to this page as I get requests.
