10/30 We have finally finished NWEA testing!!!! The only homework for tonight is to finish the social studies worksheet, but most kids have finished it in class. There was no homework in ELA.

In social studies this week the students are working on their chapter presentations. Though most of this work will be done is school, each student will have some parts of the project to do at home. The last work day for this project is Tuesday 10/10.
Language Arts -The students have their grammar menus in their binders. They all have some assignments to complete for Tuesday the 10th.
On Thursday we went over persuasive writing and each student is working on a persuasive piece of five paragraphs. This piece is due Wednesday the 11th.

History-read pages 26-30 and take 2 column notes. We started this in class so students already have a head start.
9/19 All students have been asked to cover the Social Studies book, this will be either a 100 or a 0 in the effort/organization grade, 0 will remain until the book is covered. If this cannot be accomplished at home, please ask parent to write me a note and I will have student do it a school. :)
Read pages 19-23 and take two column notes. Paper for this was supplied at school. If you are not sure how to do it, please try your best.
No ELA tonight, but you should always read 30 minutes. Remember I expect all novels will be completed by the end of this week.

History--Review pages 14-18. Using the notes we completed in class and your text book, write a summary for this section. Your summary should be about 15-20 sentences.
9/14 read your novel for 30 minutes, I expect that all students will have their novels finished by Friday 9/22.
All history classes will read pages 14-18 . You will take notes on the Big Idea sheet on the Olmecs, Teotihuacans, Mayas, and Aztecs. Even if you are not sure of what to write, just try and do your best. Remember we are still practicing on ways to take notes.

ELA If you did not finish the Literacy interview, you must do so tonight. Place in ELA portfolio folder tomorrow.
Reading- Each student in my class will have his/her reading journal due on a certain day of the week. I have five students hand theirs in on Monday, five on Tuesday and so on. This enables me to read and write back to each child in one day. Here is the assignment for this week: Write about the main character and the choices and challenges he or she faces.
Grammar complete worksheet on capitalization for tomorrow.
Social studies White class only use the third paragraph under World Link on page 13 in your social studies book to paraphrase only the third paragraph of this section.
