Principal’s Page
Dear Students, Parents, and Families of Sacopee Valley High School:
As we begin 2010, I will be using this Principal’s Page as a way to keep you better informed of what is happening at SVHS. We are busy implementing major initiatives at the high school that include a schedule change, laptops for all high school students, the accreditation process, and security updates. I will highlight a few.
We have begun the accreditation process at the high school. This is an intensive eighteen-month self-study followed by a four-day visit from a fifteen-member team in March of 2011. This process needs to be completed every ten years to maintain our status as an accredited high school. The governing body is the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. As we approach our visitation date, we will be soliciting assistance from parents and community groups. Currently, we are organizing a survey to be taken by students, staff, and the MSAD 55 community.
Sacopee Valley High School will soon be a locked down facility during the school day. This is being done to ensure the safety of our students and staff. With generous help from the Safe Schools / Health Students Grant, we will be locking all outside doors at the beginning of class and they will remain locked until the end of the school day. Visitors during the day will need to use the main entrance to the building and will be let in only after being viewed on camera by our office staff. This is the same system being used in many of our other schools.
I hope you find the information in the Principal’s Page useful. Please contact me directly with concerns or questions or to set up a time to meet with the administration to discuss any school issue or initiative that you desire more information about.
Please check the websites of teachers for classroom updates and the Shopping Guide for highlights of school activities?
